Clermiston News 2021-22

Fun Run 2022

Our Parent Council smashed it out the park on Saturday 11th of June for the Fun Run at Clermiston.

Amongst many other things, they had organised a tombola, several fun runs for all ages and even an ice cream van! The weather was good to us too, as the rain began just as we started packing up. The House Captains did themselves proud too, pulling together a Bake Sale that dreams are made of! They were raising money to support charities that help those affected by the situation in Ukraine and are still counting the money raised, but by the smiles on their faces they did an excellent job of fundraising!

Thank you to everyone who lent a hand, we love our community to pieces!

Sports Day 2022

We were so pleased to be able to invite our parents and carers in to cheer us on, and my goodness did they deliver!

Beautifully organised by Mr Lithgow aka DJ Lithgow and our talented PE specialist Mrs Griffin, the day went without a hitch. Every team gave it their all with the Ewing house taking the cup!

Well done everyone - you're all winners!

Empowered Learning 2022

Digital Learning at Clermiston

There was lots of excitement for the P6s and P7s this week as the Empowered Learning Team visited our school to set us up with out 1:1 iPads.

Krissie, Jane and Kyle worked their magic alongside Mrs Henderson to lead us through step by step. These devices will significantly enhance our pupils' learning experience through equity of access, encouraging innovation, evoking imagination, and nurturing a love of learning. The project will create a unique opportunity to unlock the potential of every learner across all schools and allow collaboration and innovation to flourish in our city.

As you may know, the Empowered Learning Project is part of the City of Edinburgh Council’s ambitious and inclusive education strategy, Edinburgh Learns for Life. The investment of £17.6m in our Empowered Learning project will provide a world class digital environment for all learners.

The Empowered Learning Project has given every young person in P6 to S6 an iPad! Shared iPads will be available for use in P1 to P5 and Early Years.

All P6s and 7s have been sent more info via ParentPay but if you want to see the Home School Agreement and Responsible User agreement, you will find them here.

This is only the beginning...we cannot wait to see where it will take us!

Christmas Jumper Day 2021

This Friday 10th of December is Christmas Jumper Day!

Clermiston Primary School and Nursery are taking part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day.

With sustainability always at the front our our minds, please do not buy a jumper especially for this, we encourage borrowing, swapping or even decorating a boring jumper you already have!

Just click the here or on the festive griffin to give £2 (or more if you're feeling generous...) & help us reach our team target.

We've also got our own QR code which you will see around the school and our local area: just scan the code with your phone camera & donate to the Clermiston PS Christmas Jumper Day!

Every pound we raise will help kids both here in the UK and around the world get the basics they need to laugh, play & see the magic all around them again! As a Rights committed school, this is incredibly close to our hearts.

Looking forward to seeing  you in your jumpers!

SpOOkY goings on at Clermiston!

On Hallowe'en this year, our playground was lit up with creativity and talent in the form of pumpkins!

The pumpkins were displayed in classes and we were all able to take some time throughout the day to pop down and have a look.

The Parent Council went out of their way to make sure that our pupils felt like part of something bigger, and our pupils (and staff!) were not put off by the disgusting weather when we paraded past the pumpkins to check them all out.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, from the carvers, to the organisers, to the idea makers and the smile bringers!

Welcome back!

What an absolute joy it has been to see familiar faces (and brand new ones!) having fun in our school playground after the summer break.

This may be your first year of being part of the Clermiston Primary family or perhaps this is your child's last year here. Either way, you are part of something pretty special and each one of you are very important to us. This year brings some many exciting things to Clermiston Primary, and to kick things off you may have noticed that our playground has had a bit off a make-over, thanks to the drive and enthusiasm of our exceptional Parent Council.

You will find lots of information on our school website, from staff lists to online safety tips so please do explore.

Our school is on Twitter (@ClerNursery and @ClermistonPS) so give us a follow!

Best wishes,

The Clermiston Team
